http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/americas/8155367.stm I came across this news item by chance and thought that there may be some interest in it for some. A little research on the matter reveals that files held for more than one year can only be kept if they are essential to a company's on going business. Everything else must be deleted, the remainder being logged for company records.

I think the simple thing this article overlooks is this: Facebook should keep its records public as long as it possibly can so the government has a good database of information that it can use to protect us from ourselves, for our own good.
