Are Our Brains Becoming “Googlized?”

Are our brains being rewired by using the Internet? The evidence tends to be pointing that way.

As somebody interested in how the mind works, I read with interest the results of a recent study

at UCLA that used the sexiest research tool around today, fMRI

scanning. fMRI allows researchers to see which parts of the brain are

I never took to it. Its bloatware spyware craptastic. But it is useful as a fishing hook to hang out there for old friends to find, which is how I use it.

Not saying its not great for some. This isn't a review. Rather, I want to focus on a crappy politics survey. Here are the questions, every one of which is to be answered "strongly agree" to "strongly disagree":

Here's the website for the test

Fresh from computer science studies, I'm pretty well convinced that we're heading for a singularity of some kind. All of information technology seems a back-written ploy to develop self-developing AI. We're one step closer with this inevitable achievement. What do you think?

There was a lot of controversy about the first version of this video - something about using a photographer's image in the video without the photographer's consent. I don't think IP exists, but even for those that do, I think current "Fair Use" law allows certain copyright "violations" in satire. Whatever.

Anyway, I enjoyed the video because it was funny and creative.

While one cannot really avoid interacting with federal reserve, she can pretty easily not buy music from RIAA. I looked up a RIAA Radar website and they have a database of artists and disks produced by RIAA members.

And I had an awesome idea!

While RIAA Radar helps determined people avoid buying, it does not provide slution to the ...

David D Friedman, legendary anarcho-capitalist, is writing a new book on what future technology might look like and how it'll effect our lives. I've started looking through the manuscript which can be found here.

The book came about from one of the law classes he was teaching so he'll be looking at the legal implications of new technology which I find fascinating. If that's not your cup of tea well there is still some really cool speculating that's worth checking out. A small sample of the ...

Salt water as fuel? Erie man hopes so

Sunday, September 09, 2007

By David Templeton, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

For obvious reasons, scientists long have thought that salt water couldn't be burned.

So when an Erie man announced he'd ignited salt water with the radio-frequency generator he'd invented, some thought it a was a hoax.

John Kanzius, a Washington County native, tried to desalinate seawater with a generator he developed to treat cancer, and it caused a flash in the test ...

Here's the kind of wholly unanticipated problem the creators of the world's most intensely anticipated video game have to solve before Halo 3 hits stores on Sept. 25.

While running around in a level of Halo 3 that's "constructed like a deep canyon," a tester came across a bunch of Gravity Lifts and had a devious ...
