Ok, so I didn't really mean that, but the design of this website could use some work.

Use FDR as a template ;-)

The navigation menu-bar should not be a bunch of pictures. It should be text, which can be searched. Why is the first thing "Index" instead of "Forums"? Forums is much more standard and logical.

And when you're in a sub-section, that section's header on the navigation bar should be highlighted to show you're in that section.

I was surfing LiMi and the server stopped responding for a few minutes. It was fixed quickly, but it made me realize that this whole opposition to FDR is contained in this one site (Which Stef has tried to close). I was thinking maybe we should create an IRC chatroom, or something like that, so that there would be a separate entity to fall back on, or just use in concert with this website.

It seems like we have quite a few techies here at LiMi so I think it could work.

I sent him the following message:

[...]

I just saw your video on laser criticism and I agree to some extent with some of your points about carpet bombing and pettiness on LM.

I don't think your characterization of LM as welcoming *any* kind of criticism of Stefan is correct though. it happens quite a lot that people come in and make weird accusations against Stefan, want to take certain actions against Stefan, say things that are factually incorrect about him, etc. and most ...

It would be kewel if the forum had an option/feature that allowed one to choose the mood they are in at the time; or the emotions they are experiencing.

I've seen that feature on some blog sites before.

Icons can cover that some, I suppose. But generally, they're too easily taken as a form of entertainment or amusement, it seems to me (ie too easily taken as more silliness or light hearted).

In just pondering it, it's almost like it would be neat if prior to posting, it was something ...

I just did a search for "liberating minds" in Google and this forum came up third; the first two results were for a book called "Liberating Minds: The Stories and Professional Lives of Gay, Lesbian, and Bisexual Librarians and Their Advocates." Now that is a niche market!

I then did searches for "philosophy forum" and "philosophy forum online" and LM was not in the first three pages of each search (I didn't check result pages beyond the third). Neither ...

Topics for LM

I think LM should start branching more out into topics beyond FDR (most active topic?). Here's a list and my brief thoughts

dissociation

association

dissociation/association is a continuum

religion - yes, I'm still a Christian

forgiveness

pacifism

determinism/free will -- either is / isn't, so wht I let affect my happiness

austrian economics

ron paul

personal relationships, tools

what to do when uv wronged someone (apologize, rationalize, admit evil)

humility

virtue

truth-pursuing

a discussion board of course depends on both the quality and quantity of its membership. I think we are okay on the quality side, but we could definitely use more people. I do expect that 3 or so more people will join the board later this week, but we obviously need even more of 'em.

I think that if we have 20-30 regular posters we'll have reached critical mass (things will no longer look quite empty and there will be lively discussions going on so that people who are interested will be ...

When describing to others what Liberating Minds is, what do you say? What makes you think that LM will appeal to whomever you're talking to? LM is an internet forum, but what is it's purpose, or what can people expect to find here? What about LM would make them want to read or post here?

I don't know the intent behind creating LM but when I think about the variety of topics, the only "theme" I can think of is "me." Not me as in Mike, but as in "I can talk and learn ...

I'm really getting sick of listening to Stef. Did you hear his latest podcast response to the thread where LiMi requested evidence or logic proving Stef's assertion that personal freedom was the only way to "bring down the state?" It is quite a collection of evasive maneuvers.

So I thought it might be beneficial (to me) to have a forum here where we could "tag along" with his podcasts. For each podcast he produced, we could comment on it here and alert each other to the ...
