So Cart, You seem to proclaim to being a Christian, if I'm not confusing things in what I laughingly call my head. Is the above what would be described as a proper Christian attitude? Do your 66 different IP addresses equate to 66 different cheeks to turn? Just askin', you know. Just askin'. - NonE

A non-Christian is going to lecture me about Chrstian ethics?!? I'm a theist. And in situations where truth is being censored moral rules can be broadened. Just like [in my view] lying to a mass-murderer is not wrong. In extreme situations you do what you can don't you?

Not lecturing, just asking. It sure seemed strange, that's all. And you've answered. I'm not sure that I disagree with you either. It does seem to me that a less confrontational approach might garner more positive results however. That is why I don't even bother to engage over there. What's the point? I like the statement "moral rules can be broadened." I think Bush probably worked on this theory too, as well as that guy Prince who is attempting to rid the world of Muslims with his own private army. Note that I am not attempting to paint you with the same brush, and I apoligize if you might have taken it that way, I'm just noticing that it is an awfully convenient idea. It would really be cool if we could "broaden" the laws of gravity, too, wouldn't it? I think that is what is wrong with laws. They are set in stone if you are wanting them to be that way - "a nation of laws, not of men" - but then they can be quite maleable if you are in power and it helps your situation. As Marc Stevens says, "Law is just opinion backed by a gun." - NonE

I take your point but these are bullies. Some people will allow themselves to be. Others will walk away. Others will deal diplomatically with the situation. Others will go nose to nose with them. I make no apologies for being the latter. Listen, I'm an ethical deontologist but there are exceptions to moral rules always! I'm strongly anti-abortion but if a woman falls pregnant due to rape who am I to tell her she cannot? We live in a world [I think] where 'lesser evil' actions are required.

Apologies for saying lecturing - I know you're not. I'm just very annoyed this evening that's all. I am human!

| Strikes me phunny as an AEnglishist; to therein hear it akin to "socialist" (social+ist), "extremist" (extreme+ist), "fundamentalist" (fundamental+ist)...
So: the+ist!
Sounds'bout it.

I think with a post like that you're just confirming them in their belief that it was the right thing to do to ban you

You are quite right Conrad. But I am too old to have people try to bully me like that. I went through that once and not again. That, for me, is a very clear break from them and their BS. Is it a coincidence that I have had three attacks on my computer in the two hours since that post??? Push anyone hard enough and at some point they'll lash out.
