PostSubject: Freedomain Radio is Da Bomb   Wed Feb 25, 2009 7:25 pm

OK, not really.

But I noticed when I searched "Freedomain Radio" on Google that the first page of results all gets you things that are not critical of freedomain radio. I think this is odd seeing as less than a week ago when I looked up "Freedomain Radio" some of the critical articles were in the first five results. Freedomain radio could have gotten more positive pages on the Google search results by having more websites link to positive content.

Does anyone think that this was a deliberate move by Stef to keep only positive results on the Google search? Do you think he asked the people over at FDR to link to him on as many sites as possible? Do you think he Google bombed?

Wikipedia page explaining how Google ranks its searches here.

Absolutely I do. There were threads dedicated to how they could increase Internet traffic, and people were working on search terms and tags and whatever else you do. Then a bunch of them started blogs about it. There was also conversation about how they were going to approach other websites to cross-promote, although I haven't seen any evidence of that happening. Still, approaching people means that people will go back at least once to look it up.

Whenever they go to other forums to "cross-promote," they get attacked as spammers. The hosts on FTL were pretty big on Stef until they got all into that Law of Attraction bullshit, which I think Stef would not think was so cool. If I remember, he did a podcast on "The Secret," and it was none too positive.

Here's a question. For those that have history with or deep knowledge of FDR, does the site deserve to be viewed mostly negatively, or mostly positively?

The content is a wash by now, early on it was great, later it got progressively worse. But, Mr. Molyneux as a person deserves opprobrium, to say the least.

Mr. Molyneux = human collateral damage. It's a shame.

yeah, they talked explicitly about that and i think Stefan himself has also done a bit of work like this, because a whole lot of the Google links link to weird things that list FDR podcasts but that don't really have a content of their own. The first few hits I get when I google Stefan though are: 1. Wikipedia, 2. FDR homepage, 3. Stefan Molyneux is a nutjob (anti-state,.com or something) 4. against Stefan Molyneux (mises.org)

pretty cool

Victory is mine! Google "Freedomain Radio" and see where freedomainradio.org is Smile

Sometimes I get all the way up to the 3rd link.

90% of all the non-FDR sites I've gotten on FDR are that Greg guy shilling for Stefan with the same cut-and-past non-critical worship piece he posts on any libertarian forum that will have him. It's hilarious.

And pathetic. I would imagine people usually end up telling him to shut up? Parrots are at best boring, but usually just annoying.

Nice work! Unfortunately all the original links to the Globe and Mail article seem to be broken (including all the Google search results too).
Try this one instead:
http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/technology/how-a-cyberphilosopher-convinced-followers-to-cut-off-family/article727644/
Otherwise, go to the Globe and Mail site and search on Molyneux.
