Speaking of "sycophants piling on", did anyone catch the recent thread where Nathan provided a fairly pointless interpretation of a song lyric? A 16 yo kid asked him bluntly what the point of his post was, and was subsequently ambushed with psychologizing and pressure to apologize by several members of the lickspittle squad. Holy Moly awarded them all "black belts" afterward. Pretty sad.

I didn't read that thread. I'm proud of myself for reading and listening to almost nothing from FDR now.

I don't know, the kid was pretty quick to knuckle under. Looks like he's pretty keen on being accepted over there, so maybe not.

If you mean baseless as in not put forth we are in total agreement. Whether he has some base he feels supports his word is totally unknown. Key word there is 'feels'. I'm including both subjective and objective. The differentiation can go in a new thread.

There were times I got the impression you were hijacking threads or stirring stuff up, but I could be wrong or thinking of someone else (Putty Tat? Are you one and the same?). Anyway, my intention was not at all to say anything negative about you, so sorry if it came off that way.

It wasn't so bad in my opinion. But why did he owe Nathan an apology? He justs asked for clarification of the point.

Seriously though, there was nothing really wrong with the original post in that thread, but at the end I was thinking pretty much what Kingdom Fall said. Soooo...what? On a site where examining possible theoretical inconsistencies is so often deemed to be poor use of valuable time, what are we to make of some guy's random musings about the possible meaning of four lines in an obscure Rush tune?

Mostly, what struck me as strange was the awarding of "black belt" for the martial arts equivalent of ganging up and clubbing a kid for his lunch money.
