I just wanted to say that i lost interest in this post. Mostly because my opinion about Stef's philosophy changed, it being far too radical. I did defoo, which i think is the best thing i've done, ever. But in the proces i've almost lost my friends too... which would have been the worst thing, ever...

I also stopped listening to Stef's podcasts anylonger... as a happy person i have troubles connecting to the negativety he's spreading...

Peace!

good for you dude!

(you're considerable farther than I am btw)

what do you mean by 'almost lost my friends' though? what happened? do you mean you almost cut off contacts with them for reasons that in fact weren't very good or sensible and did you later see this and now enjoy them in a 'new and improved' way?

I got pretty depressed when facing my past. Accepting it as it is, the past, was an emotional time for me. During that time i almost decided to cut off most of my friends.

Now, it is not them i am enjoying in a new and improving way, but myself.

well, what thoughts or emotions did you have that made you want to cut off ties with your friends, and what thoughts/emotions made you then later realize that this was not the right thing for you and made you want to stay friends? or what behavior did you exhibit in that period that made your friends possible less willing to be your friends?

what's with all this namby pamby feeling stuff? that's what I hated about FDR, always talking about feelings, and his books are just about feelings. What are you doing trying to emulate Stef?

Are "anger" and "irritation" feelings?

Very Happy

I didn't leave the FDR boards over a disagreement about valuable methods of understanding, nearly the opposite, in fact.

Do you expect all opposition to be opposed in every aspect?

...If that was the case, there would only be two belief systems on the planet...

I'm not sure what this has to do with anything, but just to answer your question, of course they are.

Just a personal note here, Toolbox. The flavor of conversation on this board tends towards the polite and not so much towards the insulting. I enjoy that about the place. Ad hominum attacks don't really advance communication.

If Toolbox was not clearly expressing anger and irritation, my radar is way out of whack.

hmm, it seems like you haven't been around enough to understand the nature of conversation on the internets.

Second attempt.

I agree fully with just about everything Stef promotes, and I am favoribly inclined towards most of the remainder.

It seems you are suggesting that the existance of an "irreconcilable difference" should carry with it a split along every line (for example, asking questions to point out contradictions between statements and the manner in which those statements are presented)

Mulims and Christians, for example, disagree strongly about the nature and commands of god - but they both agree god exists.

Even expressing disagreement shows agreement upon the belief that truth has value.
