| wonderful point! and brought in a calm and rational way. Stef may now invoke Spaghettimonster's (justly) calling somebody an asshole in a different thread (I mentioned that a few posts ago), but your point about the more sophisticated abuse would still stand and apply just as strongly in that case |

| Good, simple, peaceful response, Gabe. | Gabe wrote: | I'm not quite sure that that was fair Stefan. Well, at least I question the reason behind banning him.
In my opinion, Mr. C's comment was just as abusive as his retort - just veiled behind more sophisticated language. And he had a point about the distinction between precision in communicating meaning and anal technicality. |
And Stef's reply:
| Quote: | He kept aggressively evading my questions too.
You just can't get any wisdom out of defensive people, it's worse than a waste of time.
You can PM him though, if you want to continue the discussion. |
So if Stef bans people who are aggressively evading questions, should he ban himself?
If you can't get any wisdom out of defensive people, and since Stef's banning is a defensive action, can we not get any wisdom out of Stef? |

what does stef mean here by 'too'? does he mean 'I keep aggressively evading questions and he does too' or 'he is being abusive and he keeps aggressively evading questions too'?
Stef has several times asked people (in a rather confrontational manner) whether they agreed with his bannings and said that he wanted to hear why if this wasnt the case, so...
| Quote: | | If you can't get any wisdom out of defensive people, and since Stef's banning is a defensive action, can we not get any wisdom out of Stef? |
and his continuous evasive behaviour in the several threads on the drugs podcast (for example in responses to me (LiMi)) constitute rather defensive behaviour too.
there is no rational way for Stef to get out of this one and he knows it so he wont try. he will either stop responding adn ask you to stop questioning him or try to intimidate you (or leave that to his cabal)
Greg's response is silly since Charlie was being just as sophisticatedly abusive as Mr. C. was, purely meant to mock the other (in a Steffian kind of way) and when called on it not even admitting it but trying to say that he wasnt in fact mocking the other. cowardice... |

| wow, and Mr. C.'s response is like a treasure trove for analytical work: he has things exactly backwards qua initiation and qua tone and qua his point about semantics (which in Spaghettimonster's post was quite clear and rational, the distinction he made. he explicitly and repeatedly makes exactly that point in his post) buit at least Mr. C. admits that he was being abusive.

| Yes, I agree that Spaghettim0nst3r handle the discussion well, and no one else did. I also think that Spaghettim0nst3r should have chosen a shorter nickname - I'm getting sick of typing it! |

| also, what questions of Stef did Spaghettimonster evade? the one about epiphanies? but that is exactly the point that was in question. Spaghettimonster explained that he never said that he had epiphanies, so Stef's question is unasnwerable and so his point about evasions does not hold |

| I'm going to invite him. _________________ "Philosophy, as I have so far understood and lived it, means living voluntarily among ice and high mountains—seeking out everything strange and questionable in existence, everything so far placed under a ban by morality.

| Gabe, your last two points were downright brilliant: so calm, making all the points, so open. very very well done. Stef's response http://freedomainradio.com/board/forums/permalink/93812/93840/ShowThread.aspx#93840 is soooooooooooo Steffian and soooooooo pathetic and desperate. this is a new low... incredible that he expects to get away with 'turning the tables'. He is the one who has repeatedly said he welcomes comments on his bannings and look what he does now... disgusting... Stef, the way people feel when you ban people in this way and on these flimsy grounds is disgust at your hypocrisy and defensiveness. that has to do with your family history, not theirs... |

| again, he knows that there is no way in hell for him to 'win' this discussion in a rational way (cuz Spaghettimonster was simply right about Stef's not responding to his points and he was not being defensive (why doesnt Stef give an example of Spaghettimonster's supposedly aggressively evasive behaviour?) and you and others are simply right about initiation-retaliation, so Stef has to try to turn the tables and start psychologizing you...) |

Well, you successfully opened my eyes to what it is like to ask what seems to me to be a reasonable question and to get virtually no useful answer it return. Thanks for that. But do you have any answers to the questions that I actually asked? |
