| yeah. I mean, I'm trying very hard to be all mature and what not and not respond to the gossip-post, but eh, what Karen asked! |

| Haha, well, I'm still Facebook friends with them from my FDR days, and their status recently changed to "single," and one of them started hinting that she needed to find a roommate. Then I looked on the FDR boards for more info, and found that I couldn't access Rich's profile. It doesn't say "deleted by moderator" or whatever it usually says when Stef deletes someone's account, it says "The resource you requested does not exist." That makes me think he left voluntarily. His last post was indicating that he and Colleen were going to make it to the BBQ, and apparently they did, according to some pictures I've seen. There's a good chance that something happened at the BBQ that precipitated the break up, but I can't be sure. I think I'm like you guys, I hear stuff like this and get curious, like getting a mystery to solve. I just happened to have the resources to follow up on it. It makes me wonder how much goes on behind the scenes at FDR that people never hear about. I wonder how two people, together for years, many of them deep in the FDR methodology, could break up. Well, I do know -- the FDR methodology isn't the answer to the world's problems -- but I wonder how THEY explain it as anything other than a failure of the FDR method. |

| shucks, I actually very much liked this one conversation they had with Stefan about their financial situation and their relationship. I genuinely thought Stefan gave excellent advice and analysis in that one. |

because they don't know you left FDR, let alone that you've posted on LM? |

yes, yes, but I mean it's not that odd that people can break up even though they are emotionally mature and philosophically rational. I'm not saying they are, but just saying that even then they may just decide that it's not going to work out, and it may have been a sensible decision. Also, they're quite young and what not. |

I had a fairly public falling out with Stef, but I never felt the need to have a "goodbye post," and I stopped posting before I could get formally kicked out. Maybe they just never noticed that I stopped posting, but I had over 1000 posts and it's been 18 months or so since I said anything on there. They probably don't know I'm active here, though.
I'm with you, I never had any problem with them, I was saddened to hear that they apparently broke up. From what I remember, they were honest, kind, intelligent, and curious, all great qualities. |

I dig re some of these things, but I would not call them 'honest'. I mean, you simply cannot be in FDR for 3 years, observe all that happened but stay there and not speak up, if you're honest. I have no doubt they're honest, kind, intelligent in a lot of areas in their lives (they're not passive-aggressive, irreparable bastards like Bockman or Mr. C. or Stefan for example), but they do have very big intellectual and moral blind spots |

| Yes. This is especially sad though because the very reason that most join in the first place is that they have a genuine desire to pursue honesty and virtue in their lives......and then they somehow do develop this blind spot. |

I suppose this depends on a definition of honesty. I don't think they (Rich and Colleen, and many in FDR) are consciously dishonest. Maybe they don't have the courage to be honest with themselves about what's going on? They've found a community to belong to, and the cognitive dissonance makes them ignore or squelch their misgivings. |
