| Hey, I'm moving to a new job up in the middle of nowhere. Since I don't want to buy my own computer or pay for internet service, I may be offline for a year or so. |

| Why are you moving to the middle of nowhere? What are you going to do instead of surfing the net? |

| It can be a good experience to take a "Luddite vacation" from computers and such. Still, I'll miss your posts greatly. |

| To those waiting for a response, I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but she bounced around noon Pacific time. (Her last words were "Okay, my ride is here." -- no goodbye or anything! ) I'd be sort of surprised if she didn't have access to e-mail through her work, since she's apparently doing secretarial stuff for some telecom company, so I'd hold off on fretting too hard. |

Cool. It would be sad to lose total contact with someone so brilliant, apparently hot, and perfectly willing to kill for money.
In a moment of idleness, I thought about searching for The Best Thing Vichy Ever Said, but stopped when I found The Best Thing Ever Said To Vichy:

I mean, half the time we talk about The Molyneux Show, half the time we talk about abstract philosophy for a few hours or days and then drop the subject, and half the time Conrad makes stupid jokes or posts links to random stuff (that adds up to 150%, but I don't count Conrad's contributions as adding to the sum total). If you can find more people who would be excited by that, well may the Lord Jesus bless you. |
It has nothing to do with Vichy, really, but it makes me laugh. It should be reposted every couple of months. |

| Speaking of "willing to kill for money," I just finished reading a book called "Skeletons of the Zahara," by Dean, which is the true story of an America merchant vessel which wrecked on the shores of western Africa and whose sailors became slaves of the local nomadic Arabs. The men finally managed to get their freedom bought (well, those who survived did...), but in the interim they went through anbelievable hell and became intimately involved in the life of their traveling tribes. The perspectives revealed about the beliefs and cultures of these tribes is quite fascinating. I can highly recommend this book. It is a fun read and very instructive as to cultural norms in contrast with each other. - NonE |

| Arshucks, but the forum needs you. Think of the greater good. Anyhow, best of wishes re the new place/work internet sabbatical, and try to find some internets somehow.
