| here and herethe thing is, these are mostly excellent (though with some serious economic errors) pieces and I'm a sucker for articles/columns written out of passionate anger (e.g. William Anderson at LRC, Dylboz, and others), but as a libertarian, when reading these articles, you cannot but go: 'Well, Duh. What the fuck do you expect. This is what government is'. Such a shame these people aren't libertarians.

| live link... It reminds me of the observation I made a while back that people hate those who disagree with them far less than people who don't respond in the expected way. IE, When someone "accuses" you of being selfish, you reply without hesitation that you are and that anything else is delusional, that makes them much angrier than if you deny the 'charge'. Why? Because by violating the parameters of their normative world you detach the normative levers they are used to operating to get people to submit. |
