here and here

the thing is, these are mostly excellent (though with some serious economic errors) pieces and I'm a sucker for articles/columns written out of passionate anger (e.g. William Anderson at LRC, Dylboz, and others), but as a libertarian, when reading these articles, you cannot but go: 'Well, Duh. What the fuck do you expect. This is what government is'. Such a shame these people aren't libertarians.

Matt Taibbi wrote a great piece at the old Exile, "God Can Suck My Dick" where he advises you to argue with old people about religion, because giving that shit 'respect' is the problem in the first place.

It reminds me of the observation I made a while back that people hate those who disagree with them far less than people who don't respond in the expected way. IE, When someone "accuses" you of being selfish, you reply without hesitation that you are and that anything else is delusional, that makes them much angrier than if you deny the 'charge'. Why? Because by violating the parameters of their normative world you detach the normative levers they are used to operating to get people to submit.
