| 1376 "Thoughts About the 2009 FDR BBQ" is a ridiculous 12 minutes. It's a weekend they'll remember forever, because it's a perfect community. Well, not PERFECT perfect, because ultimate perfection is ultimate anxiety (I guess because you're afraid of fucking up? Sounds like my experience at FDR from time to time). Perfect relative to everything else that's ever come in the history of the world. Please. Remembering stuff years later isn't a sign of perfection, it's a sign of personal importance or just chance. I remember my Christian confirmation ceremony from a decade ago, that doesn't make Christianity true.
I think the compound will happen if FDR continues to develop. They're moving to semi-annual meetups in the Great White North. The only hitch is that most of them live in Not-Canada, so there's immigration to worry about. |

| What a telling podcast! As Stef glowingly speaks of the perfection of the FDR community, one of the reasons that he gives for this perfection is that when you are in the midst of this community, noone will mention x, y, or z. I thought it was really interesting that he openly and proudly stated that certain topics of discussion are not even mentionable in his community. One phrase that sticks out in my mind that he used was, "Just good ole UPB and RTR".
While encouraging those who did not attend to attend in the future, he suggests that they will want to be there in person on the ground floor of the founding of this philosophical movement........one of the most important human movements in the history of the world......sort of like being present at one of the first concerts of The Beatles.
I often see threads by young ones who have been listening to Stef's podcasts (such as the one I posted about just last night- the 19 year old who has "discovered his need to defoo") who have decided they need to leave, but don't know where to go. It is also commonplace for FDRers to be frustrated with their jobs, their co-workers, their neighbors, their non-FDR friends, their siblings, etc etc. It wouldn't be the least bit surprising for them to eventually decide that they need to form their own compound where they can live in this "perfect community" that Stef describes, where they leave all taboo subjects off the table, only speak and behave with "good ole UPB and RTR", and completely assimilate into the Stefbot Borg. |

| I think they will.
I base that especially on Stefan's pushing people to come to meetings ('you owe it to yourself'), and praising the community qua community. All sorts of stuff could happen in the meantime that might interfere with it, but I think this would be a natural unfolding |

| Yes. It's entirely possible, and perhaps even in Stef's unspoken long term plans. Who knows? Maybe it is even spoken of within his inner circle. I also found it interesting that he painted the picnic weekend as a utopian paradise where there was not even a hint of dissent among members. We know already that is a lie (or Stef is in denial) because we have seen the thread where Richard and Kevin are apologizing to one another over the disagreement and tension that was between them over dinner one of the evenings there when they were with the group. It was so obvious that other group members became involved and intervened (as described in the thread). Stef's description of paradise is deceptive and proven wrong on his own website. http://freedomainradio.com/board/forums/t/20701.aspx |

It seemed like a pretty harmless incident, no? I mean, in that thread they seem cool and open and non-hostile about whatever happened |

| Harmless, but not "perfection".
Don't even get me started concerning the squabbles that are seen almost daily on the FDR board.
Perfection?
I'm just sayin'. |

| Wouldn't it be rad if the compound's helipad gets decked out with a massive version of that sexy FDR logo. |

Reminds me of a line in one of the Batman movies, I think it was the 'Joker' said 'why can't we just all get along?' or something like that, 'Cause we can't, that is why we have debates and arguments and discussion and dis agreement etc, hellllllllllo!!!!!! |

| We have often seen examples of the FDR community not being able to get along on their board, haven't we? |

| And off the boards, too. Rumor is that long-time couple Rich and Colleen broke up. I can't access Rich's profile either, so he may have deleted his own account or had his account suspended or something. There's no mention of it on the public boards, of course, so it's just rumors. If it's true, it's probably being debated on the private boards.
Now I know how a gossip columnist feels . . . sort of sleezy for spreading tangentially-related (but nearly certainly accurate) rumors. |
