This lost clip was an interview made for Dawkins' highly inflamatory programmes 'The Root of all evil'. The one where he goes around interviewing mostly religious fundamentalists. Obviously the scientist and theologian, Alister McGrath did not fit in with the tone of the programme. Maybe, also, Dawkins does not come out of this interview looking like the only intellectual in the room? What is clear is that suddenly when faced with a fellow Oxford Professor in the room [as they both were at the time] he starts to get all humble. Notice that teh aggressiveness is mostly gone. Notice that the constant interrupting is gone. Dawkins even [at 4 mins] accepts that he got something wrong in his God Delusion book as pointed out in McGrath's rebutal.
What a shame that the programme could not have had more discussions like this rather than Dawkins flying off to North America [which is where you have to go!] to debate young-earth creationists [which is something Dawkins says he doesn't do btw - haha].
Please Prof. Dawkins, let's have more of these discussions. You can stay in England that way too!!

Hey Paul, I'm not sure what you mean at the end of that sentence - did you mean 'too'? But isn't the point here that anyone could make a documentary about any worldview [including atheism] by just interviewing people 'on the streets' and then make them look stupid? That's all that Dawkins did in his programmes. I'm not sure how that's such a great and monumental achievement personally? Yet, somehow atheists seem to think it gives further validation to their views. It doesn't. It just proved there are some stupid Christian / Jewish / Muslim people out there. However, Dawkins loses any possible credibility because as soon as he meets educated moderates they get left out of his programme. This is not the way science is done [ignoring masses of evidence to the contrary of the theory you're proposing] and it's just not honest. In fairness to him even Dawkins himself recognised this when he heard the title of the programmes was the be 'The Root of all Evil' but the producers decided that title would be more sensational and get better viewing numbers.
If Dawkins is going to make any serious challenges to theism he must take it on in it's majority views [young earth creationism is not]. Therefore your picture, whilst it's a very funny parody of a YECs view, does not even begin to touch any nerves of the majority view in Christianity [which is synthesis with Darwinism].

With all due respect, that has nothing to do with this topic. This is about whether presenting fringe, fundamentalist views as the majority opinion is intellectually honest.

Yes it was a type. Yes I was agreeing with you, as Dawkins does talk to a bunch of loonies and then goes up to this professor and basically infers that he must be loony too.
Also, I was being a troll. Trolls don't care about the topic at hand.
But Jesus really did ride dinosaurs. I'm not budging on that one.
