Welcome to a and sausage doctor!

Hi Danny,

I didn't get it Sad

please explain...

"01100001" is binary code for a lower-case "a"

"Wurst" is German for "sausage"

"MD" is the abbreviated title of a medical doctor

Thus, I was welcoming our newest members, 01100001 (now Argent) and Wurst MD!

How is Arizona--academically and re preternaturally gorgeous scenes of nature?

Arizona is wonderful! School is really hard but in a good way -- I've already learned so much, I'm meeting some really great people, and I think I've done a pretty good job of making the most of my opportunities. Last semester I took classes on the philosophy of psychiatry, egalitarian political philosophy, and environmental ethics and policy. This semester, I'm taking classes on the philosophy of Adam Smith and David Hume, moral and social evolution, and watershed and ecosystem function, as well as a short "toolkit" course on global change (about which I shall not be inclined to debate with anyone who has read less than 100 pages of non-skeptical scientific work on the subject). I'm also helping one of my professors put together a new edition of his environmental ethics textbook, as well as working with one of my friends to start a grad student arm of an interdisciplinary environmental research organization on campus. Occasionally I even sleep!

As for the natural setting here, I couldn't be happier. The weather is beautiful nearly all the time (especially compared to the weather in Wisconsin where I did my undergrad work), and the area is just stunningly gorgeous. For example, here's a picture one of my friends took when we went out to a place called Gate's Pass for the sunset. I live like half an hour from there! One of the coolest parts about it is that even though Tucson is pretty desert-looking, you can drive to some of the surrounding mountains and be in the middle of the forest in a little over an hour. Here's a picture of me from a hiking expedition earlier in the fall with a few of my friends -- look how green it is!

So all in all, I guess I can only say that it's been well worth the workload and relative poverty!

Whatever. Geek humor. My joke was way funnier and Argent rocked!

I live 5 minutes from Gate's Pass. One day, you'll have to come over to my house.

What does still bug me though is that they then would post in other threads, as if nothing is the matter.

Would you like to further explore your emotions of being bothered by this? What's going on for you emotionally when you see it? Wink I am half serious, by the way!

yeah, so just to follow up and i don't know if we'll go anywhere with this: when I see that behavior I experience mostly frustration with some hints of anger and sadness.

oh, and it's all their fault!

I'm getting the hang of this RTR thing, ain't I?
