to give advice about how to find a therapist and what not. see here for the announcement.

interesting and possibly brave move by Stef you might think, to have a real psychotherapist there who may have rather different ideas than Stef does about what constitutes good therapy.

Think again.

Stef managed to find somebody who may even be wackier and more radical than he is himself. see this essay and i'm sure there's lots more stuff over here.

Ha! he too got accused of being a cult leader. here

oh boy.

There is one difference though:

Is it significant that Stef feels the need to find outside authority for his positions on family?

dont get me wrong, i do agree that most parents (including the average parents, i still owe you an explanation, conrad, as soon as i find the time) treat their children badly, but this guy....

When a mother has a child because she feels her life emotionally incomplete and wants someone to make it more whole, her child is BOUND to be abused. He will pick up her deepest unconscious needs from the time he is in her womb and start growing toward them to insure that he gets loved, and his abuse will only increase from that point onward.

When a mother takes psychiatric medication or drinks alcohol or smokes for whatever reason she becomes less emotionally available to her child, and this is abuse.

some scientific evidence for that would be nice though.

ah, thanks.

seriously, if stef takes advice from this guy, i will lose whatever respect i have left for him.

I predict that moly and this guy will be great friends for awhile, and then they will have a falling out, just like the speaker that Stef made "friends" with when he went to the Philly debate. Remember him? He made "friends" with moly, joined and posted on fdr, and then there was a major fall out.

He sounds almost as creepy as Stef, but even he sees asking for contributions as "creepy" - the first predictor of future problems.

I am sincerely and genuinely curious as to why this psychotherapist is giving up his license and practice in March 2010, according to his website.

Just a note. His official credentials are 'licensed clinical social worker'.

Hahahahahaha! That's funny Wendy! So much for "expert in the field".

Oh well.............truthfully, don't we all know that moly can't really take advice from anyone? He's much too narcissistic for that. He may make the pretense, but that will be for a short term effect only, and only to suit his own preconceived purposes.

Oh My GOSH!!!!!!!!!!!!! Do the fdr members not READ or research who will be coming to speak to them? The members faithfully line up to thank Stef for arranging this and will be there to take in all this guy says!!!! Yikes!

I wonder what would happen (to mix a couple of threads) if this guy saw the video of Stef and Izzy? Since in his essays he thinks all parents are abusive..............would he tell moly he is an abusive parent? Boy, I bet that Sunday show would end fast.

You should not have children if (http://www.iraresoul.com/nokids.html): you are single, you love your parents, you became pregnant by accident, you're not fully enlightened (BTW, becoming enlightened includes becoming celibate, as wurst pointed out), you feel your life is incomplete . . . . Gosh, sounds like everyone I know. I hope I never feel my life is complete.

He also believes that global warming is a big problem, as is peak oil and overpopulation. If he and FDR ever do start to merge, it won't last long, if only because of the politics. Someone's going to start psychoanalyzing his political positions and saying that he never really recovered from his childhood abuses, and since he is the leader of an enlightenment movement he's not going to stand for that.

And on top of all that, his music sucks.

Between this guy and DeMause, Stef keeps some pretty crackpot "intellectual" company. Sheesh!

The timing of this is also interesting. I mean, for all I know, this has been in the works for weeks, but I think I remember being struck by how quickly he managed to line up a couple of other recent interviews. One thing's for sure: it will leave no time for discussing (or obviously avoiding) the topic of the RTR threads.
