I used to think his constant off-topic rambling in the podcasts was just his stream of consciousness. He's always giving some sort of anecdote about his life or news of his daughter or wife or something. Right in the middle of political discussions and things like that. I call it the cult-feedback mechanism. Those little quips aren't static. They're not brain farts. To the newly enlightened acolyte they're tokens of molyneux' character that stack and build up as you listen to hundreds of podcasts so that you've got this ideal view of him. Eventually you "want" him to be right because he's done everything in life and he's just so damn happy.

The sudden change of topic is also used to confuse and distract the listener. By the time Stef gets back to the point, the listener has lost the thread and that's the perfect time for him to slip in a confusing question.
It is like watching a pickpocket point at the sky to distract a victim while he steals their wallet. Perhaps the pickpocket could argue the victim chose to look at the sky while making a voluntary donation. Either way, people are being fleeced.
